Introduction

Cevapi sausages (ćevapi) are small, juicy and flavorful grilled sausages from the Balkans. They are simple to make and full of authentic taste. In addition, this easy cevapi sausages recipe uses ground beef, lamb, garlic and spices. As a result, the flavor is rich and traditional. You can also prepare them for barbecues, family meals or quick dinners. Finally, you can grill them, pan-fry them or cook them in the oven.


  1. Combine the ground meats in a large bowl. Then add grated onion, garlic, baking soda, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix well until the texture becomes sticky.
  2. Next, add cold water and mix again. After that, cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. For best results, leave overnight.
  3. Then, wet your hands and shape the mixture into small sausages (about 8–10 cm long). Afterward, place them on a tray and chill for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, preheat a grill or heavy pan over medium-high heat. Then brush lightly with oil and cook for 3–4 minutes per side. Cook until nicely browned and fully done.
  5. Finally, let the cevapi rest for a few minutes before serving.

  1. Place the ground meat in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Then finely chop the onion and grate the garlic, and add them to the bowl.
  3. Next, add parsley, paprika, baking soda, breadcrumbs, water, seasoning, salt and pepper.
  4. After that, mix everything thoroughly until combined.
  5. Then, cover and refrigerate for 1–2 hours.
  6. Next, divide into portions (about 50–55 g each).
  7. Afterward, shape into sausages about 7–10 cm long.
  8. Meanwhile, preheat a grill or barbecue and cook for 12–14 minutes, turning often.
  9. Then, check doneness by cutting one piece.
  10. Finally, serve hot.
  11. To reheat, place in a 180°C oven for about 10 minutes.
